what i sometimes do during my lunch break lately

aside from going to the cafeteria or nearby malls to have lunch, i picnik. :)

they're closing in april!

and i practice my german in between. been getting a german-word-a-day from one of my bosses. in return, i give him tagalog words (but not the cuss ones, he's too refined!). :)

danke!

a happy 7 months!

as we always do, here are a few photos from kirsten's 7 month birthday.

she actually smooshed the cake when we were about to take a photo. but she didn't lick her hand or anything, just had this look that said, "this is ickyyyy!!!" so funny! i wanted to give her a cake smash session na tuloy next month haha!

she was eyeing the cupcakes too!

can i eat my cake now?

happy 0.7, kirsten cecille! thank you so much for the joy you bring to me and daddy every single day! :)

full party planning mode is ON! :)

just an update on kirsten's birthday preps - we are ditching the alice in wonderland theme and opted for a colorful tea party instead.

source: google

i realized that maybe the birthday girl would choose her own favorite story book or cartoon character/s when she is a bit older and "imposing" (well, not really) the alice in wonderland concept wasn't a really good idea. but it has significance though as i was reading the book while visiting the doctor's clinic the first few times after we found out we were pregnant. :)

so. there. i found some inspiration online and will (hopefully) stick to it. you see, looking at different birthday themes makes you very confused and choosing one (and sticking to it) is very difficult especially for a fickle-minded person like me!

anyhoo, this is it. a tea party for our little one. :)

on the preps side, things are a bit concrete:

venue - booked!
host/entertainment - booked!
photobooth - booked!

5 months to go!!! :)

want to outrun a zombie?? then join Outbreak Manila's Zombie Run on 14 April 2012 in Nuvali!

from Outbreak Manila

Since 2008, fun runs and marathons have increased greatly in popularity. Despite this growing figure, running has yet to meet its full potential.

Inspired by Run For Your Lives, Outbreak Manila adds a whole new twist to the typical 5km run. Our goal is to come up with a race that stands out from all the rest by giving people a cause that they would really run for. And what better cause can there be than to run as if your life depended on it?

This time you aren't just running against time or obstacles. But you'll also be running from FLESH EATING ZOMBIES.

Brace yourselves. The Outbreak is upon us.

General Mechanics

Before the race, you will be given a belt with 3 flags attached to it. These flags represent your health.
During the race, zombies will be scattered across the course to eat your brains… err get those flags. One zombie can only get one flag from you.
Any physical contact (punching, kicking, scratching, tackling, spitting, hadukens, flash kicks, etc ) between zombies and runners will strictly not be permitted.
Throwing objects of any kind are also not permitted. May it be rocks, branches, sand or even dirt.
Violators of these rules will be escorted out of the premises with no refunds
There will be obstacles in the course where you can choose to go through to attain additional health flags.
There will be instances where you have to choose either the easy way, or the horde way
Easy way – less zombies but longer
Horde way – more zombies but shorter

Upon crossing the finish line, you need at least one health flag intact in order to be eligible for prizes. Should you lose all your health flags, you are still allowed to finish the race and your time will be recorded but you shall be considered "dead" and no longer be eligible for prizes.
If you find yourself out of health flags, you are not considered a zombie and are not allowed to start pulling at other runner’s flags.

ZomBies

There will be walkers, runners, and even crawlers. But don’t worry, Zombies will not be allowed to make physical contact with runner other than in attempting to pull a health flag.
Likewise, runners are not allowed to make direct physical contact with Zombies. Weapons and other devices for self-defense will be strictly prohibited inside the course. Marshalls will be around the area to keep watch. Violators (Runners and zombies alike) will immidiately be disqualified, escorted out of the premises without refunds and will be handed over to security for detainment.
Don't taunt the zombies. They had feelings too (once in their previous life). So play nice and just keep running. Remember: the goal is to get out ALIVE. OBSTACLES
The course will contain challenging terrain. But there will be water and medical stations along the way to help you survive the outbreak
There will also be several man made obstacles scattered in the course where you can get additional health flags

Be prepared for the OutBreak

Costumes are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED. But make sure you can still run in them.
Be there early. We will feed our zombies at the start but they might grow hungry as the day progresses
We recommend you arrive at least 1 hour before race time to allow time for parking and registration
Don’t forget your zombie repellent (Sunblock) – You don’t need to get a sun burn… running away from zombies is hard enough
Check the weather before the event to make sure you are prepared (i.e. umbrellas, warm gear, cold gear, wet gear, etc)
Weapons of any kind will not be permitted. (Knives, Shotguns, Pistols, Nerf Guns, BB Guns, Plastic Swords, Pipe Bombs, Molotovs, Shurikens, Light Sabers, etc.) We know zombies are terrifying, but let’s just outrun them and try to get out alive in one piece.

Registration Days

Registration for the first event will open on March 2, Friday.
Registration will be until the first week of April, or until all slots are filled up--whichever goes first!
