kapitolyo foodie post: longganisa sorpresa

longganisa sorpresa, as the name implies, serves a variety of longganisa (sausages) meals. it's a small place and was quite vacant when we went (on a saturday night).

you can pick from a dozen or so longganisa meal choices which usually came wtih fried rice and egg (typical longsilog fare).

i already forgot what longganisa meals we ordered. they also have sisig (na longganisa haha! and bangus sisig as well), callos, chicken dishes, etc. we had the sili poppers and bistek tapa.

apologies for the half-eaten food photos, forgot to take one BEFORE we started eating heehee

there are 5 dipping choices depending on your longganisa type: tuba, sinamak, paombong, pinakurat, and ukang iloko.

service was a bit slow that night, even when we were the first customers to come in at that time. the staff were very polite though. a few days after, they hung a sign outside which said "soft opening."

food was OK, at php99 (including drinks) the meals were filling. a good lunch place for the nearby offices in the kapitolyo area. and to get rid of the garlicky/peppery/oily aftertaste, cross the road to figaro or share tea at d'ace plaza. :)

milk tea, anyone?

what's with the milk tea craze?? they're sprouting all over the city! there are 3 places in our neighborhood alone!

the first time i encountered milk tea, it was when my nepalese boss would ask the coffee boy to pour milk over his hot lipton tea. i never tried it, but he said it's good. :)

now taro milk tea (quickly) was available way back when i was in college (i think!) and i have tried it once or twice then. the next time i had it was when a colleague brought me last december 2011. it was good (i like sago and nata de coco, thank you!)!

k and i were curious when cha time opened next to the grocery we frequent, so we went in. and liked what we had. usually it's just the basic milk tea with pearls. :)

then another one, share tea, turned up sa kabilang kanto. we tried it, but have not gone back again. we like cha time more, i guess.

i tried happy lemon at megamall, same same. i dunno. can't really tell the difference haha! *can't find the photo i took*

last night, we were on our way to starbucks when i saw the gong cha stall. we tried their milk teas. OK lang. :)

i see them as an alternative to the usual frapuccinos - less fat (no whipped cream), less sugar (i usually choose the 30% sugar option). and they're the craze everywhere. let's see how long they last. :)

kirsten's milestones (4 and 5 months)

@ 4 months she can:
stand up with support (bears her weight on her legs)
mumbles when i talk or sing to her!
grasps at anything and everything
she "refuses" her bottle if she doesn't want it (holds it then throws it away haha! or just swat at it!)

@ 5 months she can:
blow bubbles (sometimes in your face haha!)
she is held up in a standing position on the tub while bathing!
say MA! ME! OOOOOO!
reaches for her feet!
sits for a while without supporimitates me! when i say HA, she says HA! :)
grabs my face with boh hands and mumbles
"talks" before she cries - like she's complaining!

next month we try to feed her real food! exciting! :)

a day at the park

last sunday, we spent the morning at the ayala triangle gardens.

it was like an oasis in the middle of the tall skycrapers of makati.

i couldn't get over how green it was!

kirsten kept looking at the trees. in roxas, she loved looking at the swaying branches. we should bring her here more often. :)

there was a row of restaurants there, too bad wee nam kee was still closed! i've been hankering for authentic hainanese chicken for the longest time!

we settled for banapple, had coffee there. walang decaf nga lang!

k and i checked out bfast next door. i wanted to have lunch at wee nam kee, but bfast had a tv and donaire's fight was about to start. it was hard to convince k to transfer somewhere else. :P

food was OK lang, parang cafeteria nga e. the plates and drinking cups were reusable. i think we paid php288/person for the lunch buffet.

the food items i liked:

chocolate cupcake and pannacotta suman

mini halo-halo (we had the same from casa filipino)

yun lang. the food menu was not impressive. the pork humba was swimming in its sauce. the angus tapa was tough. the sinigang was like nilaga, no veggies (i ate a slice of tomato) and puro sabaw. it lacked the sour punch too. the veggies (baguio beans, i think!) were overcooked and swimming in soy sauce. the chicken a la king was chicken in white sauce, no veggies! tasty but lacking. i could go on and on. sana nag-wee nam kee na lang kami *hikbi*

i should have tried the desserts selection, they looked promising.

at least somebody was happy. :)

well, she's happy most of the time. :)

he was content with the fight and his san mig (donaire won, btw).

the best thing about bfast? this:

we were really happy with the park and thinking about going there every other weekend (we'll try another park in between heehee). we'll try the restos (here's the list).

we can tell that kirsten enjoyed this little adventure and went home happy. that's what really counts! :)

growing and growing

i can't believe how fast she's growing! i've had to pack clothes that have become small for her so many times... *hikbi* not too fast, sweetheart!
