prenup at la mesa ecopark

kjl, a photography enthusiast, asked us 3 ied1 bride-to-bes if we wanted our photos taken on-location, prenup style but without the grooms.

i was running late, and agreed to meet the gang there. k took pity and offered to drive me (i pitied him when he realized we were heading for commonwealth heehee).

la mesa ecopark is huge! when we got there around 10am, there were a lot of cars already, and lots AND lots of people! you can tell why they were there: photo enthusiasts brought their cameras and gadgets, moms carrying food in tupperwares, dads carrying tables and chairs, etc. there was also a group (schools) having their family day, a company doing tree planting activities, and a big boy/girl scout delegation resting under the shade. it was hot when we got there so i didn't enjoy staying around much. would have been different if we started early, sarap siguro umikot dun. :)

here are some of the photos kjl took. sumali na si k, sayang naman effort nya pag hindi di ba haha! thanks, kuya! :)

the rock

i heart my ring! k chose a design that i very much loved way, way back, even when i was single. :D i showed him the photos of the ring i wanted and he said, "hawig nga! galing ko noh!?" he bought the rock in bulacan with mr. p, and was contemplating on two rings - one with a single diamond, and the other with 3 small diamonds on each side. he chose the latter because he said i would like it better. he was right. :)

i never thought more about the extra small diamonds, since engagements rings had different designs and it just happened that k bought me this. until today.
i was browsing the net during lunch break and absentmindedly googled on rings.
after defining what the engagement ring symbolizes, etc., wikipedia mentions its many styles. "three-stone diamond engagement rings are rings with three matching diamonds set horizontally in a row with the bigger stone in the center. The three diamonds on the ring represents the past, present, and future of a couple’s love and time together (citation needed)." hmmm... past, present, and future? i bet k never thought about this!
alam ko na kung ano ang pag-uusapan naman over dinner. :)

photobooth overload

we were at this valentine weekend's bridal fair in megamall. saw and haggled with various wedding suppliers, got several service quotations, listened to wedding perofrmers, sampled cakes, and invaded several photobooths in the process. we loved it!

we are getting a photobooth for the wedding. ;)

wedding preps

first came the proposal.

simply defined as an offer of marriage, we now are very much aware that we are doomed. errr, bound?? hehe seriously now, we knew we were going to get married. k even proposed a wedding date one month into the relationship (while i was watching a christopher cross concert in cagayan de oro!). :)

after the proposal, wedding plans began. k and i made a list of our priorities, and agreed to first settle when and where we were goingto get married. initially we wanted to get hitched in november (k said we should be married within our first year together!) but after some discussion, settled for a december wedding. the atmosphere would be festive by that time, weather is cooler (sans the rain!), balikbayan relatives can come home to join us, etc. next came the hunt for our church and reception venues. we wanted these two close together since we didn't want our guests to travel far after the church event. we loved chapel on a hill in tagaytay and sonya's garden, but an out-of-town wedding may be too difficult to handle logistically (boo!). in metro manila, we checked out the archbishop's palace along shaw boulevard and wack wack golf, but the palace was booked to the hilt. next was mary the queen church and greenhills west clubhouse - both available. perfect! :) we wanted a not-so-big church, but an aisle long enough for me to savor my bridal walk. mtq fit both requirements. the clubhouse was newly renovated, airconditioned, with high ceilings and a block away from mtq. yey! we booked both, and are very happy about this arrangement.

next comes the wedding suppliers. boy, planning a wedding is no walk in the park! see my checklist below, in no particular order (i may even have missed some!):

1. church - check!

2. reception venue - check!

3. entourage - ang hirap pumili!
4. guest list (madugo!)
5. caterer - (a major chunk of the wedding budget goes here)
6. photo and video - (eats up another major chunk of the budget)
7. gowns and barongs (i wanted my k to wear a suit but he prefers a barong)
8. invites (sa recto na lang hahaha!)
9. coordinator (i know i need one but i can't seem to get myself to pay 10k-15k for a day's work! i know, i'm buying peace of mind, which is priceless. hmmm. i need to think it over pa rin hehe)
10. flowers (dang! i didn't know flowers could cost so much! punta na lang akong dangwa!)
11. souvenirs
12. music sa church and reception (i want a choir, k wants a band)
13. priest (c/o church)
14. cake (c/o caterer)
15. bridal car (c/o caterer)
16. mass readers/lector
17. reception emcee (c/o caterer)
18. hair and make up artists (am i willling to spend 20k for hair and make up that i will wash off in the evening? hmmm. NO. )

and there are other details to take care of. we have been to 2 bridal fairs, and 5-6 (i think) food tasting events. it's true that it takes most of our time (need to get up early, drive to here and there, etc.), but then again, it's so much fun! k and i enjoy preparing our dream wedding (minsan lang daw sumasali sa preps ang mga groom-to-bes [g2bin w@wie talk] kaya ang swerte ko talaga!) and are willing to go through it all for that once special day in december. :)

by the way, here's the link to a blog on us (thanks gym8!):

good thing also that i was advised to sign up at weddingsatwork.com. i have become a w@wie, and with my daily online interactions with co-w@wies, i am learning all things weddings (sic)! i love this egroup!

sigh! our original budget has ballooned to almost double the amount. argh! pero sabi nga nila, minsan ka lang ikasal. :) k and i agreed to get the best out of our hard earned money, and so far, so good. we know what we need, and if we can afford it, get what we want.

what's important is we get married. period. :)

and then, you just know. :)

the proposal

yep, he proposed. :)

here is what i wrote in our wedsite (errr... yes, we're getting married na rin hehe but that will be in another post):

We went on a trip to our hometowns in January 2009. First stop was Roxas City, and during the whole time he wouldn't part with his backpack. He said he had valuables in it, so I understood why. On our way to Iloilo, he was a bit edgy as we were running late. We were supposed to attend his family reunion there. When we arrived, he said he had to drop by someone's house first (he told me about this stop before we left Manila) but turned out he prepared a romantic dinner for two at The Mango Tree resto, complete with candles, rose petals, and our songs playing in the background. He said it was just a surprise dinner, and I believed him. When asked the waiter to bring out the "special dessert" and a ring box suddenly appeared, I knew he was proposing. He popped the question, and I said YES! :) Oh, and the reunion was to happen the next day pa pala.

When you meet someone who can cook and do housework--don't hesitate a minute--marry him. :)

injured at home

well, more like a cut from a tin can. yep, sliced my right index finger last sunday at home. good thing k was with me, he remained calm and collected while i whimpered and cried buckets over A LOT of lost blood.

i panicked and asked him to call his doctor bestfriend (whose birthday party we had just attended that night!).

k: hello kwek? emergency lang. yung daliri kasi ni r mapuputol na ata, ano tatawag na ba ako ng ambulansya??
r: *hikbi turns into uncontrollable laughter*
k: ah ok... mamaya na pala tayo tatawag ng ambulansya. lagyan daw muna natin ng ice para magmanhid at di mo maramdaman ang sakit.
r: awwww! ang sakit babe! *tears rolling down my face*
k: (poker faced) BABE, di ka mamamatay sa lata.
r: (laughing again. i forgot all about the pain heehee)

so glad he was there to take care of crying ol' me. i love him even more. :)

nowhere to be found

mood: very sad. :(

reason: lost my canon digital cam in abe's, serendra last thursday.

was meaning to give it to dad and buy a new one.

will not eat so i can save up for a new one huhu

good news is, we got ren back that night. yey! k said he was in a cab and will pick me up after my survivor dinner. i was looking out for one and didn't notice the red car which stopped right in front of me!

r: (on the mobile) babe, where are you na?
k: here na.
r: ah i see you na (referring to a white taxi which just passed me). hey i thought you were here na. dami na dumaan e, asan ka na?
k: here na nga, sa harap mo o.
r: argh!!!

kainis! we made a bet kasi, he has out-of-town hearings this week so he badly needed the car back. e sabi ng toyota 12-16 days. k said he will get it back by friday. i said nah, it's been only 9 days. impossible. ayan kasi pumusta pa talaga hehe talo na nga ako sa pacquiao vs. dela hoya, eto na naman. di bale, babawi ako kay hatton hahaha!
