the survivors at cafe ysabel

DSK is back! :)

and he won his case (long story, basta he won hehe). to celebrate, he paid for dinner haha!

here we are at cafe ysabel, along p. guevarra in san juan.

the survivors, reunited (yet again, and again).

sorry, no photos of the food. we dug in right away. :)

we had the following (i don't remember the exact names, so i looked them up from their website):

Cafe Chicken Wings - tender chicken wings coated with mashed potato. yum!
Salpicado (tenderloin tips) - for the spicy lovers. too small a portion but good and tender.
Caesar's Salad (nothing but the purest ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil, eggs, crisp Baguio lettuce) - your usual, nothing extraordinary
Salata Greca (mixed greens, olives, feta, tomato, cucumber, onions and caramelized walnuts) - loved this!
Lapu-Lapu al Graten (a pre-war favorite, cooked the Spanish way with red wine, cheese and tomatoes) - tender. flavorful. served with some pasta on the side.
Chicken Fritta (our very own rendition of pre-war fried chicken served with thick potato wedges) - fried chicken.
Gene's Argentine Special (hearty sized, aged gaucho steak marinated in anchovy and garlic, served with balsamic glaze and chimichurri) - our favorite! tender, generous portion of rib eye steak chunks served with mashed potato.
Strawberry Shortcake - this was what really came for haha! Well, for SG anyway. :) and of course, we just had to take photos.

cafe ysabel's bestseller.

SG in l-o-v-e.

look at 'em fighting over the poor thing(s). we ordered two minis just to be sure!

ok ok, children, we should learn to share.

here we were, sipping our margaritas.

DSK grilling SM about her love life. :)

the survivors will do ANYTHING for desserts. here they are ogling the selection.

WHAT!!? no red horse?? DSK was served san miguel premium (which he said was really smooth). but when we were leaving, we found this buried halfway on the ground. DSK just couldn't resist.

lesson identified (not learned haha!) - bring red horse (1 can for each survivor) every time. give the man his happiness!

(notice the red horse shirtt??)

oh what a night! congratulations again, o victorious one! :)
