i would do it again in a heartbeat

my friend jo and i decided to pay our last respects to pres. cory at the manila cathedral last night. the private burial was to be the next day so we anticipated a long queue of well-wishers.

we were wrong. it was not only loooooong, it was disorganized. most of the volunteers and policemen disappeared when the rains started. sigh.

but jo and i went ahead, it helped that the overall mood was happy. most were making jokes all around. nakitawa na kami. :)

the view ahead

and behind

a heartwarming message from NCCA

past 12am, we were in the vicinity of san agustin church. the end is near!

we were asked to line up in twos. along the way, we watched the ongoing scenes inside the cathedral on this TV panel.

some scenes along the way:

maynilad giving away free water

an afp truck parked beside the cathedral

policewomen in yellow umbrellas

and then we saw the front of the church. YEY!

jo and me were wet and cold, tired, hungry. but we're happy we finally made it. :)

no cameras nor mobile phones were allowed inside so i wasn't able to take any more photos once we walked up the steps.

i will share, though, that i surprised to see that pres. cory's looks have changed. she doesn't look the same.

on our way out, her son noynoy was standing on one side shaking the visitors' hands. we conveyed our condolences as well.

after we went down the steps, volunteers were distributing drinks and burger mcdo. jo and i didn't line up for that anymore, we were too tired. and i think we have seen enough queues to last us a lifetime. :)
