k had hearings in cebu for one whole week. i tagged along. :) and since we also had the weekend to spare, we included bohol in the itinerary(see my next post on bohol).
DAY 1:
first dinner in cebu at golden cowrie. i arrived on an evening flight. we wanted to eat at CNT lechon but it was alredy closed boohoo!
we also missed the lechon by a matter of minutes! tsk tsk.
DAY 2:
we were lucky that his friend levine obliged to drive us around the city. we were here, there, everywhere!
first stop of the day (i forgot the name of the church!)
church interiors
praying lady
magellan's cross
history
the painted ceiling
in front of magellan's cross is the cebu city hall
basilica minor del sto. nino
the oldest church in the country, said to have been built by miguel lopez de legaspi
a lovely fountain beside the basilica (i took this photo while queueing to see the sto. nino)
we weren't able to see the sto. nino up close because of the very long line of devotees
because of the huge sunday crowd, they hold the masses in front of the basilica
pasaway na yellow candles from the dancing and praying manangs outside magellan's cross (dapat ba red candles lang?)
praying, wishing, hoping
fort san pedro
entrance to fort san pedro
baber checking out the display inside fort san pedro. there was a museum of artifacts inside the fort, pretty impressive collection of excavated jars and blue and white plates. the guard said some of these were dug up just outside the fort (true enough, there's a wide section being excavated up in front. you will think there's a construction going on).
nice photo ops too!
pwede nang pang-prenup
flower power
this is where magellan died. poor guy.
lapa-lapu shrine. so who killed lapu-lapu? quick answer: the chef. heehee
the marker in front of the site where magellan died
dami rin photo ops sa may shrine
we stopped at the plantation bay resort. love the gazebo!
nice place for prenup photos! :)
after the plantation bay, we sought out the best lechon in cebu.
lunch at CNT. we ordered lechon! :D
CNT was in front of SM lang. it was about 2pm and too hot to go to the taoist temple so we went to the mall instead and watched transformers 2: revenge of the fallen. i even saw a former colleague from work, joy redoble, at the parking lot! we recognized each other through facebook haha! :)
after the movie, we went up to beverly hills but unfortunately the temple was closed. we then decided to go to levine's place.
after a long day of touring the city, we dinner with levine and wife jody. thank you both! :)
DAY 3:
we woke up to sad news - the king of pop, michael jackson, is dead. watched the news for a while and had lunch at the hotel before exploring cebu on our own.
yummy lunch at the hotel
taoist temple by day
chinese dragons guard the praying altars
after the temple, we went to the waterfront hotel. played at the slot machines in the casino and won 320 pesos! haha! i was so proud of myself heehee
we stayed a bit longer playing the slot machines, hoping to win some more. well, we won 10pesos here and there, but knew when to stop (ayoko mabawasan yung panalo ko noh!). had coffee and pastries at the coffee shop nearby to celebrate the win (albeit small, was still a win!) haha!
we went to the walk for dinner but did not find a place that served seafoods. k said we had too much pork on this trip already heehee found AA's bbq near the it park.
stuffed quail, anyone?
we had our seafood fill that night. happy k = happy me. :)
and ended the night with a couple of drinks at yo.u. oh, and humabol pa pala kami ng isang round (this was my margarita) at the hotel lobby before turning in. :)
good night cebu! hello, bohol! :)
