then we had another hankering for batchoy, so ted's it is!
we stayed at k's uncle gretel's house for 2 nights. he is the most gracious of hosts!
that day, i already noticed that kc had the sniffles. and was coughing a bit. i was concerned but not alarmed.
here she is trying to lick her pillow. she actually licks anything and everything she can reach with her mouth haaaaay!
the next day, we went to the miag-ao church (a unesco world heritage site). it's always a lovely church to visit!
then dinner at tatoy's, which has the tastied chicken inasal in iloilo! yummier than mang inasal, i tell you!
back at uncle gretel's house, i tell k we should bring kc to a doctor to check on her sniffles. here she is sleeping, i don't know how comfortable a position this is!
the next day, we had one more stop, at k's uncle regie's house, before going back to roxas. it has been years since he last saw them, and they were very happy to see him! :)
and upon arrival in roxas, we went straight to st. anthony's college hospital to have kc checked. we went to the er first and they referred us to the doctors' clinics at the back of the hospital. upon arriving there, the only pedia had a long line of patients and the secretary said they are not receiving anymore. that really pissed me off. so we went back to the er, the nice doctor their checked her stats, asked me questions, and advised to have her admitted for observation. k and i were hesitant to spend the night in a hospital so we said we'll just bring her to the pedia the next day. but then kc coughed, and the doctor said it didn't sound good. she also stressed that pneumonia was prevalent in the city, with more cases than dengue. that did it for us, and we had her admitted.
at the er, we refused to have her iv'd (my sis told us it was OK since she didn't have iv meds anyway). they took blood samples though but kc did not cry one bit. even though the nurse had to prick twice as he said the wound clotted easily. she cried when they had her lungs xrayed though, as we had to hold her still in a side lying position. that afternoon, the pedia dr. r checked on her and prescribed some meds. she took allerkid and they nebulized her (also in the er).
ang bantay at ang pasyente. i slept with kc on the bed. :) she had visitors that day and night, her lolo bob, her auntie macel (who visited and helped us out everyday! thank you, auntie!), and ninang tonia and ninong raym. but unfortunately we didn't take any photos grrrr!
in the morning, dr. r visited and said kc had a little pneumonia. eh? the xray results were not in yet though. and she was anemic, based on the blood test results. ok. we were prescribe azithromax and iron drops.
that evening, kc had another set of visitors - auntie grace, tita jho, ninong ryan, and baby mark.
here she is being nebulized that second morning. she actually likes it! and towards the end of the session, she tries to like the mask hahaha!
up until this point, we didn't have the final diagnosis yet. k and i were getting livid as we were to leave for manila that afternoon at 4pm. then dr. r dropped by to inform us that kc has pneumonia and gave us tips on how to take care of her (wag hayaang matuyuan ng pawis, pag nagpadede nakataas ang ulo, to breastfeed more kasi formula causes these diseases, massage her after a bath, play her classical music, etc.). i had to ask for the final diagnosis - beginning pneumonia and anemia. can we go back to manila this afternoon? yes. can you give us a summary of your findings to take to her pedia in manila? yes. haaaaay!
the total bill took forever (the computers bogged down and the cashier had to manually compute) to be settled, it was already 1pm and we haven't had lunch yet! i tell you, it was a photo finish trip! we had lunch at rml's, then k went ahead to the airport while i went home to get the rest of our stuff.
about 5 minutes away from the airport, k calls to tell me cebu pacific will close their gates in 5 minutes. kahit anong pakiusap, di daw mag-extend. di na kasi pwede ang proxy check-in. good thing we made it just in the nick of time.

we learned our lesson - wag pagurin si kc! kasi naman we were shuttling between roxas and iloilo (land travel of approx. 2 hours each way), e d ba first trip ni baby?? sabi ko, next time pumirme na lang kami sa isang lugar. sabi ni k, wag na muna magtravel si kc, after her first birthday na. huwaat!? syempre di ako pumayag. lalakwatsa pa rin tayo, babe! :P
